The Eyes of a Stranger
Just out of High-school American, wanting to travel the world.
Having gone through most of his life being teased about both his first and last names being both…first and last names…. (Very un-imaginative parents and Baptists too) Very uncharismatic and unimaginative, a born follower and definately not the brightest kid of his town; but why does that matter when you are going to inherit a small grocery shop in Texarkana. Thankfully that didn’t make the girl of his dreams Sophia Kraft like him any less. She being the daughter of the local Dairy Man (and second child; she didn’t have any choice really, all of the other boys were not even close to her age and already betrothed to others, excepting her brother….eww). Always had it been assumed they would marry one day. Poor girl. Our young high school graduate sneaks off on a ship as a sailer, that happens to be delivering lumber to England. So Webster is in England trying to find work to do….. Or a ship to work on heading back to the U.S., wondering to himself- why did I listen to that weird man? (wait wha…?)
What weird man……ughm that told me to go to England……? Oh gollie I miss Sophia!
